Hartwood Fest benefits park’s historic stables

October 4, 2018

Hartwood Fest will be Oct. 13 and will feature music, food and a concert.

A bonfire, s’mores and music by Good Brother Earl all are on tap for the 10th annual Hartwood Fest on Oct. 13.

Hosted by Friends of Hartwood, the sell-out event takes place from 5:30 to 10 p.m. near the historic stables at the Allegheny County-owned park in Indiana Township.

Cost is $50. Proceeds benefit an ongoing project to restore and maintain the stables.

Food will be provided by Hartwood Restaurant. There will be guided hayrides, stable tours and a s’mores bar.

“We will have a large bonfire near the band so patrons can sit and enjoy the music and keep warm by the fire,” organizer Amy Giammattei said.

Last year, the event raised more than $10,000 and money helped pay for the tack room area to be plastered and painted, and the gates in the back courtyard to be rebuilt.

Friends of Hartwood also hosts three summer concerts and the Hartwood Hunt each year to raise money for projects at the park.

Tickets will be limited to 300 and are available at friendsofhartwood
