Maze: First freeze of the season possible this weekend

November 7, 2018

7-Day Forecast

Temperatures will remain warm Wednesday as skies dry out, but WRAL meteorologist Mike Maze said things will cool off as the weekend approaches.

Severe storms predicted for Tuesday never materialized in the Triangle and the cold front that brought showers to the area has moved through, making way for dry, sunny skies for the morning commute.

“Everybody wakes up to drier weather in the morning,” Maze said.

Temperatures will once again be in the 70s Wednesday, as clouds move in during the evening hours, bringing with them a chance for light rain.

Thursday and Friday will remain cloudy, with temperatures cooling into the 60s, but the real cold comes Friday night, as a front brings low temperatures that will drop into the 30s.

“It’s quite possible we could be looking at the season’s first freeze Sunday morning,” Maze said.

Cold weather will stick around past this weekend and Maze said low temperatures could drop into the 20s by next Wednesday and Thursday.
