Trains Collide in S. Africa, 1 Dead

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa (AP) _ A passenger train and a freight train collided head-on near Johannesburg today, authorities said. A radio report said at least one man was killed and 180 injured.

``We definitely have fatalities and a lot of casualties,″ traffic department spokesman Conel Mackay said on 702 Radio.

The accident happened near Maraisburg station west of Johannesburg at about 4 p.m., when trains are normally packed with commuters.
