Arrest in Byram sex assault

GREENWICH — A man from Staten Island, N.Y., is being accused of sexual assault.

Police were notified June 24 that a sexual assault had occurred June 24 in the Byram section of town. Detectives in the Special Victims Section carried out an investigation and then obtained an arrest warrant for Gionni Scaltro, 37, of Olympia Boulevard.

The NYPD arrested Scaltro on July 26. He was extradited to Connecticut Tuesday, and he was booked in Greenwich on two counts of sexual assault in the first degree, unlawful restraint, threatening and breach of peace.

Scaltro posted a $75,000 bond and was released from custody.

According to a social-media site, Scaltro works as a hair colorist.
