FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) _ Republican state Rep. Steve Nunn formed an exploratory campaign for governor Tuesday, promising to build on the political legacy of his father, the state’s last Republican governor.
Nunn said the committee ``definitely establishes my intent to be a candidate for governor.″
With his father, Louie, standing a few steps away, Nunn said he was proud of his political heritage and promised to build on the principles his father followed during his term from 1967 to 1971.
Two other Republicans have formed exploratory campaigns for governor: Jefferson County Judge-Executive Rebecca Jackson and state Sen. Virgil Moore. Rep. Ernie Fletcher is considered a possible candidate.
