MUSIC REVIEW: Before The Sun Goes Down by The New Respects

THE NEW RESPECTS ‘BEFORE THE SUN GOES DOWN’

Released: Aug. 17

Label: Credential Records

The New Respects recently released their debut, 13-track album, “Before The Sun Goes Down.”

All in their early 20s, siblings Darius and twin sisters, Alexandria and Alexis, Fitzgerald teamed up with their cousin, Jasmine Mullen, to create the new pop-rock-funk group.

Despite growing up in very religious households, the quartet from Nashville, Tenn., soon moved on to secular music.

You can clearly hear little bits of their musical inspirations in their tracks — Lenny Kravitz, Alabama Shakes, Jimi Hendrix and The Rolling Stones, just to name a few.

Just as a listener, the energy in each song gets higher with every track.

KEY CUTS: “Trouble,” “Come As You Are”
