Wet conditions blamed in Sioux City school bus, pickup collision
SIOUX CITY -- No injuries were reported Wednesday morning when a Sioux City Community School District bus rear-ended a pickup truck on W. 19th Street.
Sioux City Police Officer Dan Hutton said that the collision, which took place around 9:47 a.m., happened when vehicles headed eastbound near the 2600 block of West 19th Street slowed and pulled over for an ambulance in the westbound lane.
“The bus, probably due to the wet conditions, wasn’t able to stop,” Hutton said, and rear-ended a white Ford F-150 pickup ahead of it.
Hutton said there were no injuries that he knew of from the crash. The bus had no occupants except the driver.
The bus appeared to have sustained minor, if any, damage, while the pickup sustained some degree of damage to its rear end.
The driver of the bus, Hutton said, will more than likely be cited.
