Man accused in double-fatal shooting in Williston acquitted
WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) — A man accused in a shooting in Williston nearly two years ago that left two men dead has been found not guilty.
Thirty-three-year-old Lamar Putney faced two felony murder charges in the May 2016 slayings of 24-year-old Diandre Lott and 23-year-old Donzell Washington at an apartment complex.
The victims who had come to the oil patch from Ohio died of multiple gunshot wounds. Putney claimed self-defense.
A jury on Thursday found Putney not guilty after a nearly two-week trial. He could have faced life in prison without parole had he been convicted.
