Wrong-way driver killed after sideswiping car, hitting pole
PLEASANTVILLE, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a speeding wrong-way driver has been killed after he collided with another vehicle on a southern New Jersey roadway and struck a utility pole.
Pleasantville police say the crash occurred Monday.
They say a 42-year-old Atlantic City man went through a red light on Main Street and sideswiped another car. The man then began traveling east in the westbound lanes of Delilah Road before he lost control of the car and hit the pole.
The man was soon pulled from his vehicle but was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later. His name has not been released pending notification of his family.
The driver of the other car, a 55-year-old Absecon man, was not hurt.
The causer of the crash remains under investigation.
