Stuff the Bus seeks donations on Aug. 4-11
HUNTINGTON — Pens, pencils, and peanut butter, oh my! United Way of the River Cities and Ohio University Southern are partnering for the eighth annual Stuff the Bus school supply drive on Saturdays, Aug. 4 and Aug. 11.
On Saturday, Aug. 4, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. buses and volunteers will be lined up at area Walmarts in Mason County in West Virginia and Lawrence County in Ohio. On Saturday, Aug. 11, donations will be accepted at area Walmarts in Cabell and Wayne counties.
Shopping lists individualized for Cabell, Wayne, and Mason counties in West Virginia and Lawrence County, Ohio will be distributed at each location on the day of the event and are available online at www.unitedwayrivercities.org. To volunteer at the event, register at www.unitedwevolunteer.org.
“This event brings so many sectors together for a common goal — to help local students in need,” said Andrea Roy, director of community impact. “From Ohio University Southern to Walmarts, TTA, Tri-River Transit, and to community members who give, we’re all in this together.”
Roy said patrons also can contribute to Stuff the Bus without leaving home by texting STUFFBUS to 41444.
“This way, a secure donation will be made toward the purchase of school supplies for whichever county you indicate,” Roy said. “It’s safe and simple.”
