Brockton mom angry after teen daughter approached
ABINGTON, Mass. (AP) — A Brockton mother is outraged that a man offered his telephone number to her 14-year-old daughter and a 13-year-old friend at an Abington pizza shop, but police say the man didn’t break any laws.
Debbie Nihtila says the man also stared at the girls, terrifying them.
The girls told Nihtila, who went to police.
Abington Chief David Majenski tells The Enterprise that the 26-year-old man is a “knucklehead” who used poor judgment, but said what he did was not criminal.
Police tracked down the man and he told officers he thought the girls were of legal age, and then apologized. He was told to stay away from the girls.
That wasn’t good enough for Nihtila, who thinks the man was “fishing” and acting inappropriately.
