Sundara Spa opens 40,000 square foot expansion

January 24, 2019

Sundara Spa recently put the finishing touches on a 40,000 square foot expansion to the 90 acre property in the woods of Wisconsin Dells, the culmination of a more than $13 million dollar investment to expand services and amenities while drawing visitors from around the world.

The spa was originally built in 2003, and when it opened it was a unique experience in the Dells as the only adults-only spa resort in an area known for its family friendly activities and as the water park capitol of the world.

Over two years of construction at the resort have resulted in a “more immersive wellness experience,” according to Carla Minsky, communications for the spa. Among the expanded amenities is more space for fitness, meditation, retreats, dining, additional spa treatment rooms, pools, and more.

The changes begin in the lobby, which has more than doubled in size to allow for a more relaxing check-in experience. Like everywhere else at the resort, the area is a quiet place where technology and loud voices are discouraged.

Once guests check in they might be placed in one of the four newly added two-bedroom suites, or into one of the other 34 rooms which have been re-furbished. Some of the rooms have two floors, while the new suites overlook the pine forests and have a patio area with lounging room and a hot tub

“Our room are very quiet and peaceful, a retreat from the excitement of the Dells,” said spa director John Morris. “We want to take full advantage of our natural surroundings.”

Those wishing to relax away from their rooms can visit the new Cambrian Oasis, an all saltwater pool area featuring a swim out, swim in indoor-outdoor pool with a swim up bar, a waterfall, and actual casts of Cambrian sandstone bluffs from the Dells area. The Cambrian Oasis is one of two pool areas at the resort, with the other pool area featuring an infinity pool, whirlpool, and a lounge area with translucent windows for privacy.

The expansion increased the size of the dining area, with new restaurant Navi, and added a new fitness room with state of the art equipment. Guests can also visit the newly added woodland reflection room, where they can watch the wildlife such as deer that come right up to the windows, or participate in a yoga class.

Spa treatments are also expanded, with the number of treatment rooms expanding from 16 to 28. The menu for treatments now includes seasonal specials, such as a peppermint treatment, along with fresh fruit, infused water, jaggery tea, and coffee. Couples can participate in treatments in one of the couples rooms, while those looking for even more exclusivity can book one of the VIP rooms.

The expanded Sundara Spa is now open, with day guest options or overnight options. Visitors can learn more or book rooms at sundaraspa.com.
