Cougars’ girls golf drops pair to NIC foes

New Prairie’s girls golf team placed third in a Northern Indiana Conference triangular, carding 245, compared to first-place Bremen’s 194 and second-place Elkhart Central’s 197 on Monday at Legacy Hills Golf Club. Sophomore Jordan Winters claimed individual medalist honors for the Cougars (1-3 NIC) with a 6-over par 43 on the front nine in her first match this year. Cyd Palmer tallied 66, and Zoie Martinez and Liv Trojanowski both shot 68.

La Porte offering Slicer Passes for 2018-19 athletic events

The La Porte High School Athletic Department has begun selling 2018-19 Slicer Passes at the high school. The pass allows for admittance to all home Slicer athletic events, excluding tournaments & invitationals, at a savings from gate admittance price. They can be purchased in increments of 10 ($35), 15 ($52.50) or 20 ($70) admittances, is transferable, and allows more than one individual to enter on the same pass. Slicer Passes will not be available at athletic events. They must be purchased at the athletic office Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Senior citizens that are 62 and older may purchase an all-sports pass for $30 that allows admittance to all home Slicer athletic events for the 2018-19 school year, excluding tournaments & invitationals.

Salvation Army to host Red Shield Run 5K

The Salvation Army of Michigan City is gearing is hosting it second annual Red Shield Run 5K Powered by NIPSCO, a fundraiser supporting programs and services offered by The Salvation Army in Michigan City. The Red Shield Run is a timed road race starting at 8 a.m. Saturday. It will begin at Krueger Middle School, 2001 Springland Ave., and runners will head down Springland and circle through the Pottawattomie Park neighborhood before returning to Krueger. Trophies will be presented to the top male and female overall finishers; and medals will be presented to the top finisher in several age categories. Cost is $25 in advance or $30 on race day. La Porte Senior Bowling League fall meeting

The La Porte Senior Bowling League will have their annual fall meeting on August 20 at 1 p.m. at Casey’s Lanes Bowling Alley.

Night Golf at Valley Hills

10th annual Bike Michiana for Hospice ride

The Center for Hospice Care and the Hospice Foundation announce the 10th Annual Bike Michiana for Hospice will take place Sunday, September 23, starting and finishing at the Center’s Mishawaka Campus next to Central Park, along the scenic St. Joseph River.
