After nice weekend, rain back in the forecast

May 28, 2019

After beautiful weather during the long Memorial Day weekend, rain and thunderstorms are expected later Tuesday.

The National Weather Service says any thunderstorms we get will not be severe. Only Fairfield County has a marginal risk of severe weather.

The cool and damp conditions will continue into tonight with the rain tapering to scattered showers and drizzle. Weak high pressure will bring a brief period of dry weather on Wednesday with cooler than normal temperatures. More unsettled weather returns Wednesday night into Thursday with the front lifting back northward with another disturbance moving along it.

On Sunday, some new high temperature records were set at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks with 90 degrees; Danbury, 84 degrees; Bridgeport, 83; and New Haven, 81.
