Abandoned dog

The owner of a home in the 200 block of South Gordon Avenue in Kankakee discovered the previous tenants left behind their dog on Sept. 14. According to a report, the owner came to check on the house after the tenants moved and heard the pit bull barking inside.

Battery

Kankakee police investigated the battery of a man on Sept. 14. According to a report, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of South Nelson Avenue at 4 p.m. in reference to a fight and a subject injured. The victim suffered a broken ankle. A witness said the victim was with two other subjects, who accused him of stealing from them. The subjects fled after battering the victim. Several subjects on scene did not cooperate with investigators. The victim was taken to Presence St. Mary’s Hospital.

Theft

Kankakee police took a report of a minibike and vehicle taken from a tow company lot in the 1400 block of Panozzo Road at 9:15 a.m. Sept. 19. The minibike was towed there for Kankakee police from the 900 block of East Chestnut Street on Sept. 18 where it was found abandoned. It appeared the fence around the lot had been driven through.
