Major Rockslide Reported in Yosemite Valley
YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, Calif. (AP) _ Several people were believed to have been injured in a major rockslide Wednesday night at Yosemite National Park.
Park officials told KXTV in Sacramento that all of its emergency personnel were at the scene. The injuries could not be immediately confirmed, although a state forestry dispatcher said an ambulance was sent there.
The slide, about a half-mile wide, occurred near Vernal Falls and Happy Isle, popular sites inside Yosemite Valley.
Witnesses told KXTV it felt like an earthquake and they saw a cloud of dust that went 3,000 feet in the air.
Yosemite spokeswoman Lisa Dapprich, speaking by phone from her home, said she had no details on the slide.
