CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) _ The Philadelphia Phillies opened up their 50th season in Clearwater with a 7-6 exhibition win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday.

Reserve second baseman Kevin Jordan knocked in Lee Tinsley with the winning run with a one-out double in the bottom of the ninth. Tinsley had reached on a one-out single.

Ricky Bottalico was the winning pitcher, despite allowing two runs in the top of the ninth. Ricky Steed took the loss.

The Phillies got five runs in the first two innings off Toronto free-agent acquisition Erik Hanson.

Philadelphia starter Sid Fernandez pitched three innings and allowed just one hit, a homer by Ed Sprague.

Sprague had two hits, as did Philadelphia’s Lenny Dykstra and Mickey Morandini.

The teams meet again Saturday in Dunedin.
