Joe Thomas: Technology happened to our vote
I sympathized with letter writer Bob Feliciano’s disdain for the outcome of last weeks election. It’s not easy to lose so many representatives that you share a kinship to.
I experienced this same feeling two years ago when the Republicans gained total control over the government. But, what I didn’t do, was to blame the technology that allows working people, deployed soldiers, the decrepit to cast their votes by mail. This technology was used two years ago, and I don’t recall Rob writing a letter to the editor about the perils of early voting. In a working Democracy, your team has to lose sometimes, or the other team gets to comfortable with their position. I hope to see the voting technology eventually terminate polling facilities. I for see polling stations becoming a relic, much like the VCR!
