Devils will trek to Yuma Catholic

September 22, 2018

MOHAVE VALLEY — The Dust Devils recorded their first win of the season on Sept. 14, but they will face a huge challenge at 7 tonight at Yuma Catholic High School against the Shamrocks.

River Valley High School beat the Gilbert Christian High School Knights 47-6 last week, which improved the Arizona Interscholastic Association 3A West Region Dust Devils’ record to 1-3 overall, 1-0 in region.

“One of the best teams in the state for 3A,” said River Valley head football coach Jonathan Clark about the Shamrocks. “(They’ve) got two of the most explosive players we’ve seen. Their running back Ean Chavez is very similar — if not better — than Needles running back Marcus Turner. We have to make them sustain drives. They really like to go deep and have big plays.

“We will have our work cut out for us but if we can compete with these guys, we can compete with anyone. I look forward to the challenge.”

The AIA 3A Metro Region Shamrocks are 3-1 overall, 1-0 in region.
