Suspect apprehended after foot chase in central Greenwich
GREENWICH — Police arrested a motorist who allegedly fled from officers and was later captured on foot in central Greenwich.
Authorities said a 2017 Kia Forte was observed to be operating erratically on Greenwich Avenue, and when an officer attempted to pull the car over, the driver sped off. The car stopped a few blocks away, according to the arrest report, and the driver took off on foot. He was apprehended after a foot pursuit, police said.
Novashawn Bannister, 24, of 1960 Park Avenue, New York City, was charged with engaging in a police pursuit, reckless driving, resisting arrest and driving without a license. He was also given a number of traffic citations.
It was later determined that New York state held a warrant for Bannister, on a parole violation, according to the arrest report. Bail was set at $50,000.
