KVAL members to unveil secret-subject artwork
Ssssssh, it’s a secret ... subject that is.
At the next Kishwaukee Valley Art League monthly meeting, members will unveil their artwork based on a secret subject drawn earlier. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, in the Club Room at Hy-Vee, 2700 DeKalb Ave. in Sycamore.
Envelopes were passed out to KVAL members at the November and December monthly meetings. Each envelope contained a secret word or subject inside. As part of the “Create With KVAL” challenge, members then had to create a piece of artwork that demonstrated the secret subject inside their selected envelopes. This project is meant to stretch the imagination of the artists, and it is always fun to see the imaginative creations that result from those secret subject suggestions.
The public is invited to attend the meeting to see how art league members interpret their secret subject and transfer their idea onto canvas, wood, fabric, photograph, glass or other medium.
Also, applications are being accepted for the annual Northern Illinois Art Show to be held on the DeKalb County Courthouse lawn in June.
KVAL is committed to promoting local artists and dedicated to the development of upcoming artists in the Kishwaukee Valley. Visit www.kval-nfp.org for information.
