Texas City holds off Clear Lake for 24-9 victory
Clear Lake couldn’t get untracked offensively in a 24-9 loss to Texas City Friday night in a non-district football game at Challenger Columbia Stadium.
Texas City led 14-0 after the first half on runs of 1 yard by T.J. Fountain and 16 yards by Jo’Vel McDaniel.
The Falcons (0-3) cut the lead to 14-3 in the third quarter on Nathan Eastin’s 30-yard field goal, but Texas City responded with a 2-yard scoring run from McDaniel and a 35-yard field goal from Ricardo Robledo for a 24-3 cushion.
Clear Lake scored with one minute left in the game on a 75-yard pass from Shae Suiaunoa to Christian Marullo.
Suiaunoa rushed 18 times for 74 yards and completed 13 of 33 passes for 203 yards. Marullo had six receptions for 110 yards.
