No. 15 Kansas 81, Central Michigan 65
LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) _ Freshman Angie Halbleib scored 22 points and Angela Aycock added 14 to lead No. 15 Kansas to an 81-65 victory Saturday over Central Michigan in the championship game of the Kansas Dial Classic.
Halbleib, named the tournament’s most valuable player, followed up a 28- point effort in the Jayhawks’ 94-66 victory over Oral Roberts on Friday by hitting six of 13 3-point shots on Saturday.
Kansas (4-0) led by as many as 27 in the first half and led 42-16 at the break.
Central Michigan (2-1) opened the second half with an 18-6 run to cut the deficit to 14, but the Jayhawks’ pressure defense and fast-break offense was too much to overcome.
Nikki Thompkins led Central Michigan with 22 points.
In the third-place game, Oral Roberts beat Jackson State 64-57.
