Bernard L. Edwards Memorial Golf Tournament winners announced
HUNTINGTON — Twenty-one regional golf teams converged on the Guyan Golf and Country Club in Huntington to help raise funds for the Ohio University Southern Greatest Needs Fund. The event took place Tuesday, May 6, and marked the 16th year for the Bernard L. Edwards Memorial Golf Tournament. Edwards, who passed away in 2003, was a long-time benefactor of Ohio Southern and was instrumental in the University’s development of the Proctorville Center.
Nicole Pennington, Dean of Ohio Southern and Interim Executive Dean for Regional Higher Education, said support from sponsors and the community make the tournament a success year after year.
“We appreciate the generosity of our sponsors and teams who make this event possible,” Pennington said. “Proceeds from the tournament supports students, faculty, and staff in areas such as technology, supplies, equipment, and other campus costs that are beyond what our operational budget allows,” she continued,.
Tournament co-coordinator Stephanie Burcham, who also serves as Director of Development and Director of the Proctorville Center, said the event supports teaching and learning. By directing funds raised from the event to Greatest Needs, ”(it) allows us to help continue supporting students, faculty, and staff as much as we can,” Burcham said.
Team winners from the 2019 Tournament include:
• The Edwards family — First Place Gross Score
• Ashland Inc.— First Place Net Score
• The Hall family — Seconnd Place Net Score
