BAGHDAD (AP) — Iraqi officials say a series of attacks have killed nine people in and around the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

Police officials say the deadliest attack took place Saturday afternoon, when a bomb exploded in an outdoor market in Baghdad’s Shaab neighborhood, killing four people and wounding 11.

Earlier, a bomb blast on a commercial street in a western suburb killed two people and wounded two others. Police said gunmen broke into a tile factory and shot dead the owner and his son in an eastern neighborhood.

Just south of Baghdad, a roadside bomb aimed at a police patrol killed one civilian.

Medics in nearby hospitals confirmed the casualties. All officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.
