Centerville death ruled a homicide

CENTERVILLE, S.C. – Darlington County Sheriff’s investigators are investigating a homicide on the east outskirts of Hartsville where a person was discovered deceased Monday morning in a vehicle near the intersection of East Home Avenue and North Center Road.

Deputies were dispatched at approximately 9:30 a.m. to the area where the vehicle was found wrecked in a field.

The death has been ruled a homicide by Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee, who said the identity of the victim will not be released until the family is properly notified.

Investigators are being assisted by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division’s Forensic Services Unit.
