Spearfish police investigate burglaries
SPEARFISH — The Spearfish Police Department is investigating several residential burglaries that occurred in the area of Tranquility Lane in Spearfish during the early morning hours of Oct. 10.
Some of the residences that were entered were occupied at the time. No forced entry was found at any of the scenes and it is believed access was gained through unlocked doors. Financial tools such as credit cards and cash appeared to be the targeted items. Several vehicles in the Sandstone Addition area of Spearfish were also burglarized during the same time frame and a vehicle was stolen outside a residence located on Branding Iron Drive. The stolen vehicle was later recovered wrecked on Highway 85 in Harding County.
Evidence from the scenes of these crimes, surveillance videos obtained and investigative information developed, indicates a single suspect and that this suspect likely left the area in the stolen vehicle and is ultimately believed to be in the Williston area of North Dakota. The images are of the suspect at a local business the previous day and from a North Dakota business today. A video of the suspect is also attached. It should be noted that the attached video is infrared, so light and dark are reversed.
If anyone has any information concerning these crimes or the identity person in the images or video, please contact Sgt. Darin Pedneau or Detective Jason De Neui at the Spearfish Police Department 642-1300.
The investigation is ongoing by the Spearfish Police Department with the assistance of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office.
