Melvin F. Lauersdorf

NEOSHO -- Melvin F. Lauersdorf, 87, of Neosho, passed away on Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, at Marquardt Health Center in Watertown.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lebanon at 11 a.m. Family and friends may gather at the church at 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at the parish cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Peter’s kitchen and cemetery fund.

Melvin Fred Emil Lauersdorf was born on Aug. 9, 1931, to Reinhard and Magdalena (nee Uttech) Lauersdorf. A man of God, Melvin was baptized on Sept. 20, 1931, and later confirmed his faith on April 29, 1945. Sandra Ruth Thomas married Melvin at St. Peter’s Church in Lebanon on Feb. 12, 1955. Melvin was employed at Mirro Aluminum of Oconomowoc for 18 years and worked for Associate Engineering Corporation for 13 years. He later dedicated his time to the Neosho Lions Club, Curtiss Lions Club, the village of Curtiss and Teamsters Union. Melvin enjoyed his family vacations to Disney, fishing, playing cards and listening to music.

Melvin is survived by his children, Randy Lauersdorf of Neosho, Cindy (Dave) Finnel of Watertown, Tammy (Scott) Moen of Oconomowoc. Melvin’s grandchildren include Jared (fiancée Calon Schreiber) Schaefer, William Moen, Lacey Owen, and great-grandchildren, Alley and Annie Baerber. He is further survived by his siblings, Gladys Lueth of Curtiss, Roger (Tina) Lauersdorf of Abbotsford and sister-in-law, Arletta Lauersdorf of Neosho; good friends, James Schaefer and Travis Schilling; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sandra Lauersdorf; daughter, Debra Lauersdorf; brothers, Elmer Lauersdorf and David Lauersdorf; brother-in-law Elmer Lueth; and daughter-in-law, Sandy Lauersdorf.
