May 14, 2005

FOXBORO, Mass. (AP) _ Taylor Twellman scored in the 59th minute to lift the New England Revolution past D.C. United 1-0 on Saturday.

New England (6-0-1) hasn’t allowed a goal in four home games.

Twellman scored his fourth goal of the season off a pass from Patrick Noonan. Twellman, at the right corner of the goal box, one-timed Noonan’s cross from the right wing past D.C. United goalie Nick Rimando.

Revolution goalie Matt Reis made four saves for his fourth consecutive shutout and fifth of the season. He extended his shutout streak to 369 minutes.

D.C. United (2-3-2) had eight corner kicks, including seven in the first half. But the defending MLS champions could not connect on their best scoring chances, a shot by Clyde Simms in the 16th minute, and a drive by Alecko Eskandarian in the 80th minute.

Rimando made five saves for D.C. United.
