Governor appoints interim to head HHS and hires search firm to find new director
LINCOLN — Gov. Pete Ricketts appointed an interim director of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services on Thursday while announcing a national search for the new head of the agency.
Bo Botelho, chief operating officer and general counsel of HHS, will take over as the interim leader after CEO Courtney Phillips departs the agency Oct. 14. Phillips is taking a similar top leadership position at the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.
The Governor’s Office said it has retained Ford Webb Associates, a search firm in Concord, Massachusetts, to lead the search. The firm previously helped Nebraska recruit Phillips and other top HHS officials.
