CINCINNATI (AP) _ Ken Griffey Jr. was expected to miss a couple of starts because of a sore left thigh.
Griffey aggravated the thigh while chasing Randy Johnson’s double Thursday night during the Cincinnati Reds’ 7-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks.
He had an MRI on Friday that found nothing more than a strain.
``We hope to be able to get him out there in a couple of days,″ Dr. Timothy Kremchek said.
Griffey was available to pinch hit Friday night against the Houston Astros. The outfielder has been limited to 37 starts because of a torn tendon in his right knee, a pulled right hamstring and the sore left thigh, which has bothered him for a while.
``I can run, I just can’t stop,″ Griffey said Friday.
