TC Line: A Cure for the Narrow-minded

December 3, 2018

Value of travel

To quote Mark Twain: “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the Earth all one’s lifetime.” So true today.

10 Commandments

The sixth of the 10 Commandments is thou shall not kill. I think this applies to taking away insurance coverage so people die, taking away the ability to have food so people die, killing people in wars that are unnecessary, sending people back to the countries where they will be killed. We need to take this serious in all of its possibilities.

I was just going to comment on the “TC Line lessons.” ... At the bottom it says, “And I have to follow the 10 Commandments.” You don’t have to follow the 10 Commandments. If you’re a Christian, then that’s what you’d want to do. Obedience to God’s law would keep us out of all the trouble our world has gotten into. You leave God out of everything, you have no morality. ... Your life will be protected by following those 10 Commandments. ... Everybody should look them up and read them and see what good they’ll do them, because it will protect your life. And pass it on to the children.

Don’t read it?

The tired line “if you don’t like it don’t read it” is really not an argument but an opinion. Making the statement proves nothing.

Scott Rochat

I’m calling about a column that Scott Rochat wrote for today, Monday the third. Very insightful, heartfelt, needed. You got yourself a real treasure in this man. I hope you keep him around.

Time to give

Two thoughts today: One, Colorado Gives Day is (Tuesday), and if you’re not sure which nonprofit ... gives an early childhood education, that allows you to search by cause and you can find a few nonprofits that can use your help. Also with Christmas coming — and you’re going to get more stuff — it’s a good time to look through your things, find things that are in good shape and take it them to nonprofits that redistributes or sells that stuff.
