San Antonio Rampage allow two short-handed goals in loss

The Colorado Eagles used a pair of short-handed goals to hand the San Antonio Rampage a 5-3 loss on Tuesday at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colorado.

Andrew Agozzino netted the Eagles’ first short-handed goal to open the scoring in the first period. Max McCormick added a second short-handed tally for Colorado in the closing moments of the Eagles’ three-goal second period.

The second-period burst gave the Eagles a 4-2 lead after the Rampage claimed a 2-1 advantage in the first period behind goals from Ryan Olsen and Jordan Nolan. Olsen scored his second goal of the night in the third period to pull San Antonio within one, but Colorado’s A.J. Greer sealed the match with an empty-net score.

The Rampage scored on two of seven power-play opportunities, while the Eagles scored on none of their five. San Antonio outshot the Eagles 39-24 for the match.

Rampage goalie Jared Coreau was pulled after making 14 saves against 18 shots in two periods. Replacement Ville Husso stopped all five shots he faced in the third.

San Antonio is 25-25-5 and 6-19-4 on the road, going 2-4-3 entering the final match of a 10-match road swing against Colorado at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
