HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) _ Shawn Moore scored four of his 25 points during a late 9-0 run as Marshall beat Davidson 81-76 Saturday night in the Southern Conference.

Coupled with East Tennessee State’s loss to Western Carolina, Marshall (17-8 overall, 9-4 conference) clinched the No. 1 seed in the Southern Conference tournament, which begins next Thursday in Ashville, N.C.

Trailing 73-71 with 1:23 to play, Marshall scored nine unanswered points en route to winning its seventh consecutive game.

Moore’s steal and dunk gave Marshall the lead for good, 74-73 with 58.8 seconds left.

Tink Brown hit four free throws and Moore hit two in the final minute to help seal the win.

Curtis Raymond added 16 points for Marshall and Brown had 13.

Brandon Williams scored 19 points to lead Davidson (13-12, 6-7). Quinn Harwood added 15 and Chris Alpert had 13.
