Christmas Day Inc. continues free dinner tradition

December 20, 2018

Continuing what has developed into a local tradition, the annual Christmas Day Inc. dinners will be served once again at nine locations throughout Kankakee County.

The dinners are free and available to anyone who makes a reservation in advance. The deadline to register is 5 p.m. Friday. To make a reservation, call 815-614-2697.

The holiday feast will be catered by LaViletta at the Elks and served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Christmas Day. The menu will include turkey, ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, salads and pies. All meals will be served in dine-in fashion. Carryouts will not be offered.

Funds to provide the meals are raised through a September golf outing.

The nine locations where meals will be served include The Central Christian Church in Bourbonnais; Quality Inn & Suites in Bradley; The Community Center in Grant Park; the Civic Auditorium and the Lisieux Pastoral Center, both in Kankakee; The Leo Hassett Center in Manteno; The First Baptist Church in Momence; Northlake Villa Senior Center in St. Anne; and the Sun River Terrace Community Center.

This year marks the 24th anniversary for Christmas Day Inc. A mission committee from a local church founded Christmas Day Inc. in 1994.
