Rotary Clubs Help the Needy
FITCHBURG -- The Montachusett Area Rotary, in partnership with Clinton Rotary and Leominster Rotary, recently provided nearly 500 care packages for community members and their families within the North Central Massachusetts Region who may be homebound, homeless or do not have the financial means to access personal health items.
Working in collaboration with Our Fathers House in Fitchburg, The Wheat Program in Clinton and the Emergency Services team at both the Leominster Campus and Clinton Campus for UMass Memorial HealthAlliance-Clinton Hospital, packages will be dispersed to families in need.
Rotarians from all three clubs joined to assemble small personal-hygiene bags that include shampoo, soap, deodorant, comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, razors and a hand towel. To better meet the needs of each recipient, bags were assembled and tailored to both men and women.
The Rotary clubs remain committed to provide this much-needed service on an annual basis and possibly expand the distribution to additional nonprofit agencies who may have families in need. Funding for the project was provided through the generosity of all three Rotary Clubs along with the approval and receipt of a grant from Rotary District 7910.
