DPS: 2 killed in wrong-way crash on Phoenix-area highway
PHOENIX (AP) — Authorities say a car driving the wrong way on a Phoenix-area highway triggered a three-vehicle crash in which two people were killed and several others were injured.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety says State Route 347 reopened Tuesday morning over seven after the wreck occurred Monday evening near Riggs Road south of Phoenix
The DPS says the wreck killed the wrong-way driver, 70-year-old Karen Ankiewc of Sun City West, and the driver of the other car involved in the initial crash, 26-year-old Julissa Torres of Maricopa. A man and child in Torres’ car were injured hospitalization.
According to DPS, a third vehicle struck Torres’ car after the initial crash and two people in her vehicle were injured.
DPS says cause of the wreck remains under investigation.
