Editor’s Note: Prep Stars in College is a weekly glance at former southeast Idaho high school athletes who are now competing at the college level. If we’re missing anyone, let us know at email@example.com.
Kaya Evans (Century) – College of Idaho
Century High School graduate Kaya Evans has started every game this season for the College of Idaho women’s soccer team.
The sophomore defender assists a defense that is allowing one goal per game through 10 matches. She played a season-high 110 minutes in a 0-0 tie in September against Whitworth in what was one of three shutouts by the Yotes this season.
C of I (5-3-2, 2-3-1 Cascade Collegiate Conference) hosts Northwest Christian on Saturday.
Kennedy Yost (Century) – University of Montana
Century graduate Kennedy Yost has picked up momentum past the midway point of Montana’s soccer season.
The sophomore starting forward compiled her first five points of the season in her last six matches. She was aggressive in a 1-1 home tie against Idaho on Sept. 30, when she had a season-high six shots and drew a penalty kick that she converted.
Montana (2-7-3, 1-2-2 Big Sky Conference) hosts Southern Utah on Friday.
Elexus Nochebuena (Blackfoot) – Treasure Valley Community College
Blackfoot High School graduate Elexus Nochebuena has begun her acclimation to the college level in her first season playing for the Treasure Valley soccer team.
The freshman midfielder scored the first goal of her college career on Sept. 2 in a 5-1 loss at Lower Columbia. Nochebuena, who has three points this season, has started 11 of 14 games.
Treasure Valley (3-10-1, 1-8-1 Northwest Athletic Conference) plays Saturday at Walla Walla.
