Sabres Acquire Capitals’ Juneau
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) _ The Buffalo Sabres acquired Joe Juneau and a third-round draft pick from the Washington Capitals today in exchange for Alexei Tezikov, a defenseman with the AHL Rochester Americans.
Juneau, 31, scored the overtime goal against Buffalo that eliminated the Sabres from last year’s Eastern Conference Finals. The 6-foot center, one of eight Washington players set to become free agents this summer, has 14 goals and 27 assists this season.
Tezikov, 20, has three goals, seven assists and 41 penalty minutes in 30 games this season. He was Buffalo’s fifth-round draft choice in the 1996 Entry Draft.
