PHOENIX (AP) _ Wendell Magee of Detroit hit the first inside-the-park home run at Bank One Ballpark, off Curt Schilling in the third inning of the Tigers' game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night.

Magee hit a fly to deep right field and Jose Guillen chased it down and appeared to catch it. But Guillen tumbled to the ground at the wall and remained there while first base umpire Mark Wegner ran out to him.

Initially, Wegner called Magee out. But as Guillen got to his feet, Wegner saw the ball on the ground and called him safe. By then Magee was at third base, and he easily beat the throw home.

Replays showed that Guillen had the ball, stumbled a couple of steps and then dropped it as he fell to the ground.

It was Detroit's 44th inside-the-park homer. The last one was Aug. 10 by Shane Halter at Kansas City. It was the second one hit off the Diamondbacks this season.

Arizona's Junior Spivey hit an inside-the-park homer in Boston last Saturday.
