Snooker’s top female player fails to reach world finals
SHEFFIELD, England (AP) — Snooker’s top female player has failed in her bid to become the first woman to reach the world championship finals.
Reanne Evans lost 10-8 to former world champion Ken Doherty in the first of three qualifying rounds.
The 29-year-old Evans, who has won the past 10 women’s world titles, received an invitation to compete in the qualifiers.
Evans says “I’m happy to have stuck in there with a player who has been world champion and has so much experience.”
The world championship starts at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, northern England, on April 18.
