Sanyo, IBM in Semiconductor Deal
TOKYO (AP) _ Japan’s Sanyo Electric Co. and IBM will jointly develop semiconductors for mobile phones, digital televisions, digital cameras and other advanced electronic devices.
Sanyo said today it will gain access to IBM’s expertise in producing the most advanced semiconductors, while Sanyo will help IBM sell more of its chips in Japan.
Financial terms of the venture were not disclosed. The companies hope to start selling jointly developed chips in one or two years.
