Post office in Maine closed due to suspicious package
AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — A post office in Maine’s capital city was shut down because of a report of a suspicious package.
The post office in the Edmund Muskie Federal Building in Augusta was closed by 11 a.m. Monday. The Kennebec Journal reports law enforcement was headed into the building in the wake of the report of a suspicious package.
The post office was evacuated, as were all the other offices in the building. The Maine State Police’s bomb squad was called in to assess the risk posed by the package.
Authorities say they are treating the package as “suspicious.”
