Duke is back on top...Bochy’s last season...Serena back in top 10

NEW YORK (AP) — Duke has reclaimed the No. 1 spot in the AP Top 25 college basketball poll. The Blue Devils earned 58 of 64 first-place votes in the new poll to earn a third stint at the top this season. Duke replaced Tennessee, which had spent four weeks at No. 1 but fell to fifth after Saturday’s loss at Kentucky.

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan State forward Nick Ward has had surgery on his broken left hand and is expected to be out of for at least a few weeks. He was injured in Sunday’s 62-44 win over Ohio State. Ward is the second-leading scorer for the 10th-ranked Spartans, with 15.1 points a game. The 6-foot-9 junior returned to school after putting his name in the NBA draft last year.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Bruce Bochy of the San Francisco Giants says he will retire after this season, his 25th as a major league manager. Bochy turns 64 on April 16. He is entering his 13th season with the Giants, having led the team to World Series titles in 2010, 2012 and 2014. Every other manager with three or more titles has been inducted into the Hall of Fame.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — The Boston Bruins ride a five-game winning streak into tonight’s game in San Jose against the Sharks, who’ve won seven of their last eight. The Tampa Bay Lightning carries the league’s best record, and a five-game win streak, to Columbus tonight to play the Blue Jackets, who’ve won five of their last six.

LONDON (AP) — Serena Williams has returned to the top 10 in the tennis rankings for the first time since taking a break to have her first child. Williams dropped as low as 491st upon her return to competition in March 2018 but is up to No. 10 after reaching two Grand Slam finals since, losing to Angelique Kerber at Wimbledon and Naomi Osaka at the U.S. Open.
