Mayors, council spots and a bond issue dominate local ballots
Saturday is the last day to vote in this year’s general municipal elections.
Election Day polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with initial results expected by 8 p.m.
Early voting turnout in Port Arthur and Nederland was high this year, with a runoff election expected in Port Arthur’s five-person mayoral race and a controversial school bond proposal on the ballot in Nederland.
In Beaumont, turnout totals were about average despite nearly two dozen candidates fighting for seven spots.
The Beaumont Enterprise will bring updated general election coverage online Saturday, with a full recap of the races in print Sunday morning.
