Two Admirals Tapped for Promotion
WASHINGTON (AP) _ The Pentagon announced Friday that President Reagan had submitted the names of two admirals to Congress for promotions and new assignments.
Rear Adm. George W. Davis Jr., currently the deputy commander for surface ships at the Naval Sea Systems Command, has been nominated for promotion to vice admiral and assignment as the new commander of the Naval Surface Force of the U.S. Pacific Fleet.
Rear Adm. James E. Service, now president of the Naval War College in Newport, R.I., also was nominated for promotion to vice admiral and chosen to assume command of the Naval Air Force of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, the Pentagon said.
Davis, 51, will replace Vice Adm. Crawford A. Easterling. Service, 54, will replace Vice Adm. Harry C. Schrader Jr. The Navy said new assignments for Easterling and Schrader will be announced later.
