BARCELONA, Spain (AP) _ Police said Thursday they had arrested 68 people and broken up a white slave ring that brought women from the Dominican Republic to Spain and forced them into prostitution.

Police identified the ringleaders only as a 25-year-old Dominican man and a 26-year-old Argentine woman.

Police said members of the ring traveled to the Caribbean island of Hispaniola to offer non-existent jobs to the Dominican women in exchange for $10,000.

Once in Spain, the women were forced to work as prostitutes in roadside dives to pay off their debts.
