Greenwich police issue advisory on impaired driving
GREENWICH — Greenwich police are issuing an advisory for the holiday weekend — extra patrols will be out looking for impaired drivers.
Police are gearing up for a long holiday weekend. Memorial Day is considered by many as the unofficial start of the summer vacation season. AAA predicted that there will be as many as 1.5 million additional people traveling this weekend compared with last year.
A good weekend weather forecast is great news for parades, concerts, and parties. While the Greenwich Police wishes that everyone has fun at this weekend’s activities, they warn that officers will be on patrol to ensure the public’s safety. There will be a zero tolerance for drunk or drugged driving so if you are going to drink don’t drive!
Police are also telling drivers to plan ahead and to expect some delays due to traffic, and to drive safely!
