NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ Former Vice President Al Gore will return to his home state of Tennessee on June 12 to be honored by the Anti-Defamation League’s Southeast region.

Gore and his wife, Tipper, will be presented with the 2001 Johnny Cash Americanism Award, given annually to those dedicated to fighting prejudice and bigotry.

The Gores will be honored at a $200-a-person dinner at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel. Proceeds will benefit the Anti-Defamation League.

The award is named for its first recipient, country music star Johnny Cash, who was honored in 1989 for his stands against racial and religious bigotry, often at physical risk to himself and his family.
