Mississippi girl recovering after car hits her at bus stop
BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (AP) — A 7-year-old Mississippi girl is recovering after she was struck by a car while waiting for a school bus in Bay St. Louis.
Her grandmother, Elaine Miller, tells the Sun Herald on Tuesday that a helicopter took the child to a New Orleans hospital Monday. Miller says her granddaughter has a swollen spleen.
Witnesses told Bay St. Louis police that the second grader was hit by a Ford Mustang on Monday morning, and the car drove off before officers arrived at the bus stop.
Police say 29-year-old Grady Keith Farmer has been arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident. It was not immediately clear whether Farmer is represented by an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
